Welcome to the Department of Molecular Biology and Functional Genomics

Our department is strongly research focused and we apply state-of-the-art methods to the study of molecular life sciences. The setting is highly international with PIs, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students from many corners of the world. We are located in the main campus at Frescati, just North of the city center in the world's first 'National City Park'.

Research at the Department

Our research interests range from theoretical research on early evolution, through single molecule studies, to molecular processes in whole organisms. We work on Drosophila immunity, regeneration in salamanders, molecular evolution, ribonucleotide reduction, insect physiology and innate immunity, chromatin structure and pre-mRNA processing, biogenesis of mRNA and rRNA, triple-helix DNA and RNA, and RNA editing.

Please contact group leaders directly if you are interested in pursuing a degree project, graduate or postdoctoral training in one of our research programs.
